In 1966 Higashiyama Building was built on the Uno port in the middle of the heyday as prosperous as a city of a contact ship. At the time, it was crowded with coffee shops, BARs, etc. In the apartment part, it was crowded as lodging houses of women working at business centers of ports such as ferry port. However, as the harbor declines, the number of users also declines drastically, the appearance of the building, the aging of the building, the state of not being able to abandon numerous damaged parts also continues, and as many as a dozen years of unattended, only a myriad of swallows and rats It was to make a nest and to live. About 2012, in such a state, weird people who felt charm in this building gathered together and planned as a venue for the Okayama Art Festival. After that, it was developed as a Higashiyama building rebuilding plan by several remaining members, cleaning, restoration, and operation were carried out by hand bending. And around 2014, among the members “Yogin Nishino took over the operation, full repair, construction, addition of facilities and planning of events, etc. were carried out in a serious manner in a DIY-like and improvised manner. , A hotel, a coffee stand, a hamburger, a jewelry shop, a beer garden, a gallery space etc. until the operation, etc. The building will continue to change like a living thing in the spirit of “thinking while making a completed figure, thinking while using” I plan to go.
